Pot Grown Care

There is a difference between pot grown and potted Christmas trees.

A pot grown really speaks for itself, it’s been grown in the pot from a transplant.  When you have the tree inside you must ensure that the compost does not dry out at all so you need to check daily, but be careful not to over water it too.  Like a cut tree, keep it away from heat sources.  Make sure you place the pot on a protective surface or even in to an extra decorative pot.

If you want to plant out in the garden after Christmas and you have chosen a tree less than 4ft you may want to leave it to grow in the original pot for another year so it can put down a better root system.  You can either leave above the ground or plant it with the pot in the ground.  Make sure you check for dryness and some fertiliser is a good idea in the growing months.

A potted tree is when a tree has been taken from the field, had some of the root system cut away and then fitted in to a pot.  Follow all of the care instructions as for a pot grown tree but they don’t usually have a good rate of survival.  However, as it’s a natural product, who knows whether it will survive or not.
